citizenAID supports Armed Forces Day

On Saturday 30th June, citizenAID were pleased to participate in the official Armed Forces Day celebrations in Llandudno, North Wales.

Hosted annually to showcase support for the men and women in the Armed Forces, the event draws people from communities and organisations across the country, unified in their appreciation for the individuals that have and continue to serve our country.

This year, celebrations commenced on Monday 25th June when the Armed Forces Day flag was raised on buildings and landmarks up and down the UK, honouring serving troops and their families, veterans and cadets. Since then, local events have been hosted in smaller communities to celebrate the forces, raising awareness of their work and boosting morale.

The official event in Llandudno saw the public turn out in their masses as they gathered to watch a parade along the pavilion, together with air displays from the Red Arrows and demonstrations from the likes of the RAF Military Working Dogs, RN Raiders and 4 Para Infantry.

citizenAID Ambassador Jonny Herron represented the Charity at the event, joining other exhibitors in the arena to offer information and advice on how to ‘be prepared not scared’ in the event of a deliberate attack.

Throughout the event, members of the public were also provided with the opportunity to watch Tourni-Key demonstrations and understand more about the wider initiative and its overarching aim to empower the public to save lives.

Jonny confirmed: Armed Forces Day was a great success, it culminated years of UK military medical experience to teach members of the UK Armed Forces, Her Majesty’s Government and the Public the vital lifesaving principles embodied in citizenAID. This was an excellent example of a charity and the Armed Forces both regular and reserve working together to enable members of the public to act in the event of a deliberate attack. This event demonstrated the key humanitarian principles behind the initiative and there was a great reception from the public which reassures you that we are doing the right thing.

Officially launched in January 2017, citizenAID® has quickly become a widespread initiative, where members of the general public have benefitted from the free smartphone App, online familiarisation videos, a printed pocket guide and educational materials for both adults and children.
