citizenAID teaches life-saving message at Thames Valley Police Force Open Day
On Saturday 5th August, citizenAID was delighted to showcase its life-saving app and pocket guide at the Thames Valley Police [TVP] Force Open Day.
Held at the TVP official training centre near Reading, the Force Open Day is an annual event that provides the opportunity for members of the public to obtain a greater understanding of the work undertaken by various police departments, including specialist forces.
Deemed its biggest and best yet, 2017’s Force Open Day was extremely well-received, boasting almost 8000 attendees, many of which took the time to engage with the citizenAID team to learn and understand more about how to stay safe and save lives in the unlikely event of a deliberate attack.
With this year’s theme dedicated to Children and Young People, the event also provided the perfect opportunity for citizenAID to promote its recently published children’s e-book, “Moggy’s Coming”.
The first in a series of educational books designed for Key Stage 1&2, “Moggy’s Coming” features the story of the Mulberry School mice in emergency situations, enabling parents and teachers to help children understand acts of terrorism in a non-threatening way.
Co-Founder of citizenAID Brigadier Tim Hodgetts, confirmed: “The Thames Valley Police Force Open Day provided us with an excellent opportunity to showcase citizenAID to members of public, from sharing and promoting our “Run, Hide, Tell, Treat” message to informing parents and teachers of the materials that have been developed specifically for schools, including our very own children’s e-Book, Moggy’s Coming.”
“What’s more, it was great to see how Police Officers, Police Cadets and members of the public were keen to learn the life-saving practical skill of an improved tourniquet.”
