citizenAID launches new public information video
citizenAID is proud to launch a new public information video to show how ordinary people can take extraordinary actions to save lives in the immediate aftermath of an explosion.
Set in a busy transport hub, the video begins with an explosion and follows a member of staff and his colleague who use the citizenAID app to assess the area for further danger, communicate effectively with the emergency services and deliver life-saving first aid to the injured members of the public around them.
The video shows the principle of ‘triage’, which ensures you treat the most seriously injured first. It also recognises that you cannot save everyone and must recognise that some may be dead.
The video is a ‘textbook’ example of the citizenAID principles in practice, taking into account the complexity and danger of the aftermath of an explosion as well as the time-critical nature of the injuries that would have been sustained.
Brigadier Tim Hodgetts, co-author of citizenAID said: “This video will help to spread the citizenAID message to the public that they are empowered to save lives. It demonstrates how logical principles can be applied in the immediate aftermath of an explosion. It is a compelling and realistic short story to support how citizenAID can guide you in the most difficult of circumstances. We are incredibly grateful for the sponsorship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh who have made the development of this film possible.”
